I spent yesterday in a cleaning frenzy. It was floor day. I mopped both bedrooms, the bathroom and the kitchen. How is it possible that after a thorough sweeping, vacuuming, swiffering, and mopping, there can STILL be kitty litter on the floor?
Then I attacked the dining room table which hadn't really been cleaned off since the Christmas festivities...now piled high with new stuff like mail and bags and receipts and junk. While everyone was here, we had two tables put together with a big tablecloth over both. When my parents left, we separated the tables, but left the cloth on the one table, and I folded it up on one end so it didn't drag on the floor (to avoid creating a kitty playground). When I unfolded it with a flourish yesterday, I unearthed an open tray of cookies that had been hiding in it for a week...I had no idea it was there. The cookies flew all over the place. Surprise!
It felt good to gain control over those floors and spaces. I'm all geared up to get things in order for the new year (and for my new year), I guess. Last year I felt a little like I was floating in a world where my life was just beyond my control. I would like to feel more grounded this year and I'd like to set some goals for myself. I've never been one for setting goals, though...I get distracted so easily. I think I need to work on that.
