This afternoon we took Penny to the vet for some "hydrotherapy," which pretty much means that they put her in a sink, sprayed her tumor with warm water for five minutes, and picked at the lump until the pus-filled center broke up and cleared out. This left a creepy, volcano-like structure -- a shell of flesh surrounding, well, nothing. It. Is. Weird. And. Absolutely. Disgusting. Now the thing is bleeding a LOT and is open (the pus-goo kept it shut and it only mildly oozed). I could, if I really wanted to, stick the tip of my pinky finger into the hole in the middle of the tumor, that's how big and gross it is. A band-aid will not cover it and absorb what needs to be absorbed anymore. I really don't know what to do about it yet, so tonight and the rest of the weekend is about observation. Hopefully the thing will sort of dry up and stop bleeding so much. Ugh.
We also got her some pain/inflammation medicine, which seems to be helping, actually. She is very calm and is snoring away on her bubble wrap bed. It is nice to see her feeling relaxed, though she was pulling vigorously at her elastic suspenders right before konking out. She's a fiesty one.
