Fester

So I said I'd post about the Festival and I just don't seem to have the patience but I'll try anyhow.

We flew out of Louisville on Thursday the 23rd - we drove to L'ville Wednesday night and stayed overnight in a motel (for free, thanks to Neil's accumulated hotel points). There were a lot of kind of creepy people at this hotel. Lots of creepy men standing around and leaning on stuff. Our room was "poolside" which meant that our floor to ceiling window opened onto an enclosed space. That was sort of an odd feeling - to have a huge window that didn't open to the actual outside, but a sort of artificial outside.

We got to the airport and happened to park just as the parking lot shuttle arrived. Yay! The woman driving the shuttle wanted to talk about Wankel rotary engines because my car is a Mazda. While waiting for our connecting flight we discovered that we tie our shoes completely differently. We wondered how many ways a person could tie one's shoes.

One uneventful flight later we were in NY with its green, rolling landscape (miss it). Dad picked us up from the airport, we went to purchase lunchtime comestibles and then we went home. Neil W. and Jamie arrived that afternoon - always good to see them. Thursday night benefit concert was a big success - Mom did her whirling dervish routine while Dad and George played.

Saw Jessica and Mike - how long has it been? Seems like it was just yesterday but also forever ago. They were playing accordion in the accordion band! Yay!

The rest of the Festival was wonderful as usual. Took a lot of pictures, rode on the golf cart, kept Mom and Dad on track, saw tons of familiar faces and old friends, drove the golf cart. T&S shows were fantabulous - Bonnie's first shows were stellar despite the mic pack making a trip down her pantleg during the 2nd show. The Worms were arrogant - tons of new songs were tested. I really hope they record the Mime song. That song (along with the hernia belt song) was brilliant. Vietnamese musical instruments are freakin' cool. Fennig's sounds grrrreat with flute, clarinet, trombone and percussion. Wonderful to hear/see the Berrymans as well. Lost & Found was one of the best yet. I successfully avoided Jonathan P.... however Neil and my folks were not so lucky. Uncle Don was in fine form - it is always good to see him.

It was SOOOO hot that we were glad the weekend was over - too hot for fun.

We discovered that my parents both tie their shoes differently yet. So far nobody we have asked ties them the same exact way. Cool.

Flight home was delayed (weather) but the connection flight was the exact same plane, so that was lucky! I read The Hobbit to pass the time.

Here ends my hopefully-not-too-dull account of our trip.
