For the rest of the afternoon I am going to count the number of times my co-worker clears her throat. I might lose track because I'm actually concentrating on something else, but I'll do my best. x = clearing, g = grunt, c = full cough
2:15-2:20 xxxxx xx
2:20-2:25 xxxxx xxgxg
2:25-2:30 xxxxx xxxx (+ 1 "Excuse me" for something I couldn't hear)
2:30-2:35 xxxxx x
2:35-2:40 xxxxg
2:40-2:45 xxxxg x
2:45-2:50 cxxxx gx
3:10-3:15 xxxxg xx
3:15-3:20 xxxxx cxgxg xxxx
3:20-3:25 x (talked with boss)
3:25-3:30 bathroom break
That's enough. 72 times in about 50 minutes. Do you think she knows she does this? One time I counted 90 times in 45 minutes. For some reason, counting makes it easier to deal with. When I count it turns into a project rather than an annoyance. Sort of a scientific study, if you will. I have to be careful not to influence the outcome because if I clear my throat, it sets her off.
