So, the update you've all been waiting for...
School. I'm in a really annoying library class that makes me want to stab myself in the eye with a fork most of the time. The worst part about it is that the credits don't even count toward my degree. And I am in the graduate theory review class, which is fine, but it's moving both too slowly and too quickly at the same time, if that makes sense. I'm also taking music bibliography (which is almost fun), secondary voice lessons (I'm not sure how I feel about those yet), and I'm singing in one of the conducting class choirs (which has actually been quite interesting so far).
I feel a little like the odd man out because I'm not taking any musicology classes yet (thanks to the theory prereq) and I'm only in the one, lame, intro library class, so I haven't met a whole lot of people in either department. I've been left off of a couple email lists by accident, adding to the feeling of being stuck in the middle. That plus the fact that I'm 10-12 years older than most of my classmates makes the experience quite odd at times. However, it's been fun discovering all the connections. It's such a small world.
We're still not completely unpacked and there is a distinct lack of storage space in this apartment, so it's difficult to figure out where to put everything. I think it's getting better, though. I made some progress this morning, after spending much of the day yesterday searching for some sort of shower caddy to hold all the stuff that keeps falling off the edge of the bathtub. After buying and returning both an over-the-shower head caddy (which didn't work with our fancy shower head) and a tension rod shower caddy (which we would've had to cut down because it was much too tall), the winner ended up being an OXO suction bin thingy that attaches to the shower wall. After 12 hours, it's still there and it hasn't fallen off, so I think we're golden.
Neil has been playing gigs with Evansville and Owensboro... in fact he's playing with the EPO right now (it's the Beatles tribute concert). It's funny that after living in Evansville for 10 years, they call him for gigs only after he leaves town. Sigh. He received his massage therapy license in the mail last week, and he went right out and had his wallet card laminated. Now, I think, the next step involves being certified by the state... though it's quite confusing and I might have that wrong.
It's hard to believe that we lived in Evansville only a month and a half ago. It seems like ages ago, and also like it was yesterday. Weird.
