So, I suddenly find myself at the end of the semester. Where did it go?! I learned some things I didn't know before, which is good... I reviewed some things I used to know but had forgotten, which is also good.... I also discovered how difficult it is to get through school when your body doesn't work right. Not only is it exhausting and painful, but it is also extremely frustrating and not a whole lot of fun. Everything takes longer and I simply can't do any given task in a focused way for a very long time because either my neck starts hurting, or my arms start hurting, not to mention how much my brain can start hurting from the effort it takes to keep going. For someone like me, who likes to just go and go and go until the thing is done, it's going to take quite a lot of adjusting to this new work pattern. I'm a little worried because this semester was a light one, and by the end, my body was/is not happy at all. It's more than a little discouraging.
I didn't realize how tired I was until I woke up at 10 AM on both Saturday and Sunday last weekend. I never sleep that late anymore! It felt good, but it also felt really lazy...it was lunchtime before I knew it!
Last week, I was in the middle of my final project for my bibliography class, and my dictation software pooped out. I did a system restore and got it working again only to have some updates install themselves, after which Word crapped out! One more system restore and they were both working again until two days ago when Dragon died...again. I found out today, that my voice file got corrupted somehow and I had to retrain it. bummer. It seems to be working okay now, except it doesn't want to capitalize the beginnings of sentences consistently. I can't really complain -- it seriously helps save my arms!
In other news, Neil was in Chicago last week for the ART spine course. He passed with flying colors and has been practicing his new techniques on his massage clients with some excellent results. Very exciting! Neil also auditioned for and got into a dance company in town, and he also directed a staged reading of a play at the end of November. Go Neil! But, talk about frustration: he had the exhaust system of his car entirely replaced (no more Loudmobile!) only to have the timing belt break and the head gasket crack the very next day (as he was driving to his dance audition -- stressful!!!)
So, here I am, at the end of the semester... I have one final (theory review) on Thursday. I've been reviewing this evening, and trying not to fall asleep. Meanwhile, Arthur is staring at me, wondering why he is not on my lap, or maybe why I am not feeding him. He has been very restless lately.
Yawn. This is a very scattered post. Maybe I should just go to bed. It's 9:15. Hmmmm.
